My children’s bedrooms look way better than our own. Whilst the only splash of colour in our room comes from our overflowing washing basket, the kids have amazing spaces with coordinated colour schemes and photo-ready features in every nook and cranny. In fact, I love shopping for their rooms. Whether it’s Cath Kidston prints for Heidi, or Fireman Sam anything for Dex, it helps detract from the hoards of toys they’ve managed to accumulate during their short time on the planet.
As I’m hugely supportive of local businesses, shopping for the home is even more special if I find a shop in my neck of the woods. The Childrens Curtain Company are a great example of this. Local to Berkshire, they offer way more than their name suggests. With adorable bedding, storage, lampshades and wallpaper for babies through to teenagers, there’s something to brighten even the smallest box room.
Gathering lots of attention in the press (from En Vogue to Buzz magazine) there’s a fabulous collection of fabrics that will transform boring spaces into super swish children’s rooms. From more traditional ditsy fabric, to modern pop-art, to character prints - the choice is vast.

For curtains & blinds, you measure your windows using their handy video guide then select your fabric. With most styles well under £15 per metre, it’s a far cheaper option than buying ready-made curtains, and means you’ll have no swathes of material hanging where you don’t need it - can you tell I’ve made this mistake before?! All blinds also come fitted with safety guards too showing a real commitment to the safety of children.
With coordinating lampshades available in every print, The Childrens Curtain Company make upcycling projects easy - old table lamps are given a fresh breath of life and become truly beautiful bedside table accessories. I’ve featured a few of my favourites below - never could resist Cath Kidston!

There’s also a great selection of cushions in beautifully traditional Jane Churchill prints inspired by Beatrix Potter, Winnie the Pooh, Quentin Blake and more. Bringing such well-known literary characters into a babies room is an easy way to bring about a sense of calm and wonder. Heidi’s room is a masterclass in accessorising with cushions and it makes me feel far more confident she won’t hurt herself when she plays in her room.

Lastly, there are a number of great duvet sets in child-friendly prints at really affordable prices - what child wouldn’t be excited about going to bed if they get to snuggle down under one of these?

That’s not all. The Childrens Curtain Company also stock a number of soft toys, home-crafted noticeboards and some great storage solutions for all those toys. When Firesam Sam has lost his appeal, I know exactly where I’ll be going!
