Getting ready for Christmas with The Personalised Gift Shop

Posted on

We’ve very nearly hit December. Towns and villages everywhere have their Christmas lights up, supermarkets & department stores have released tv ads that have been a year in the making, and the kids have already started dropping huge hints about what they’d like from Santa this year. As it’s our first Christmas in a house of our own, we’re pulling out all the stops this year to make it really special for our 4 & 6 year old. After all, they won’t believe in the magic of Christmas forever.

Whether your little ones believe in Father Christmas or not, The Personalised Gift Shop are your one-stop-shop for everything Christmas; selling everything from unique personalised gift ideas, to Santa plates and Christmas Eve boxes. So, whether you’re kicking off brand new traditions this year (like us), or simply carrying on something tried and tested, The Personalised Gift Shop have it covered.

Getting your home Christmas-ready

If you are anything like me, you’ll whip out your Christmas decs every year and say “I must get some new ones for next year”. Yet every year I bring out the same battered baubles and limp tinsel. Yet it’s amazing what a few new key pieces can do to bring that extra bit of sparkle to your festivities. Here are just some of the personalised Christmas offerings from The Personalised Gift Shop this year…

(Featured) Personalised Santa Stocking £14.99 / Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Personalised Pillar Candle £9.99 / Personalised Mince Pie Plate £17.99 / Personalised Photo Bone China Bauble £14.99 / Sleeps Until Christmas Hanging Slate Sign £9.99 / Personalised Merry Christmas Teddy Bear £26.99 / Personalised Christmas Wine £16.99 / Personalised The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Farmhouse Jug £14.99 / Stag Cheese Board £25.99

Christmas Eve boxes

This year, we’re also kicking off the tradition of Christmas Eve boxes for the kidlets. At some point early evening, they’ll hear a knock at the door, and an elf will have bought them a whole host of goodies to get them in the Christmas spirit.

We were gifted these beautifully handmade Special Delivery Christmas Eve Boxes (£29.99) from the Personalised Gift Shop that are just perfect for the job. Roomy (26cm wide, 15cm tall and 18cm depth) and sturdy enough to last a lifetime of Christmas Eve’s they are adorned with the children’s names and North Pole postmarks aplenty so your child knows immediately where they’ve come from.

I did a quick whip round Pound Stretcher for a few example bits and bobs, but having asked on Facebook, other parents in-the-know have chosen Christmassy DVDs, chocolate gold coins, sachets of hot chocolate, PJs and family games for their children. One canny parent told me the aim is to either to wear them out, or keep them quiet!

If you haven’t the time or inclination to hunt down goodies for your box, The Personalised Gift Shop have come up trumps again. This little haul is bound to get them suitably excited…

(Featured) Puzzle Book - A4 Deluxe Version £19.99 / Personalised Santa’s Magic Key £12.99 / Personalised Christmas Sweetie Jar £14.99 / 20 Personalised Colouring Pencils £7.99 / Santa Letter and Envelope £6.99 / Personalised Christmas Teddy in a tin £19.99 / Personalised Christmas Chocolate Bar - Tree £5.99 / Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Marquee Mug £8.99 / Princess Ultimate Collection - Personalised Disney Story Book £29.99

Welcoming Santa

You might think you’re shattered, but let’s face it, no one has it tougher than Santa on Christmas Eve. When you’re all safely tucked up in bed, he’s whizzing across the globe pulling off the impossible feat of delivering all those presents. His track record is actually pretty amazing, and he hasn’t missed my children yet, but there are plenty of little sweeteners you can leave behind for FC and his posse to ensure he remembers to stop by.

(Clockwise) Treats for Santa Personalised Slate Hanging Sign £9.99 / Personalised Port £29.99 / Personalised Santa’s Glass Milk Bottle £9.99 / Treats for Santa Plate £14.99

The big day!

Now you’ve prepped, it’s time to hand over the reins to the big man himself. Short of hovering over your kids with a bin bag (someone has to tidy up!), dishing out AA batteries like a Duracell rep, and drinking your body weight in red wine - you can finally sit back and admire your handiwork.

We were gifted these gorgeous Personalised Luxury Santa Sacks (to give to Santa, to give to our kids - you understand) and I can’t wait to see them filled with all the bounty the kids will unwrap on Christmas Day. Not only are they HUGE and roomy (80cm x 49cm), they’re also made from soft premium hessian (so have the right amount of stretch for larger pressies). Presents are secured within thanks to a wide red ribbon to minimise the chances of falling out of Santa’s sleigh.

With a classic almost Scandi reindeer design, and wide felt cuff bearing your child’s name in large gold lettering - there can be no mistaking whose sack is whose, and they make such a statement sat beside the fireplace. At just £17.99 each, they can be pulled out year after year to ensure presents make it safely from the North Pole to your home.

With all this and more available at the Personalised Gift Shop, you can help make your family’s Christmas truly special and well… personal. For more inspiration and exclusive competitions, check out them out here:

Christmas with The Personalised Gift Shop

A Spot of Christmas Shopping with Getting Personal

Posted on

I love a good gift site. It takes all the pain out of choosing something unique and special for tricky-to-buy for people. The extent of my Christmas and birthday list for Craig (born on 12 Dec; how bloody inconsiderate!) is usually socks, beer, face cream and a designer tee-shirt. He’s a real lad’s lad with expensive tastes and a propensity to leave-me-to-it present-wise (“You know what I like…” - like I’m some sort of Oracle). One year I even resorted to buying him underwear for me, thinking it might be a treat for him, but he stropped for the entire day so I won’t be trying this again.

FOR HIM

Football Gifts

When I spotted a really cool football-inspired gift on Getting Personal, I quickly fired off an email to see if they’d like a review. Although he’s far from being one of those men that spend their Sunday’s in a football shirt, he does follow Manchester Utd with irritating closeness. We can’t nip out to the garden centre if they’re on the telly, and 99.9% of his Facebook statuses will be whinges about signings or sending offs. This personalised football headlines book therefore looked right up his street.

Not only is it superb quality with imitation leather finish and gold embossed personalisation, it’s tabloid sized to ensure an easy read. Each of the pages are produced from original newspaper scans printed onto thick quality paper. It promises to document the most sensational headlines and articles from your club’s history spanning back some 100 years.

Each book has a detailed insight into their favourite team, everything from bank-breaking transfers to cup glory to last gasp winners. It’s all here.

Getting Personal Football

From my limited knowledge of Manchester Utd, I expected to see dozens of articles on the fateful air crash that claimed 22 lives in 1953, Fergie’s takeover from Atkinson in 1986, iconic signings such as Cantona, Keane and Rooney, their treble win in 1999, and some of the headlines that caused grown men to sob when Ferguson stepped down. They’re in all in there, in fab black and white quality print. Okay… this might be my idea of sheer hell, but it’s bound to be a hit with my Craig.

This fab book is just £39.99 with over 60 of the nation’s top flight teams to choose from (including the biggies from the Scottish League). I really hope I’ve managed to get across how chuffed I am with this, and I haven’t made an idiot of myself with dates etc. I’m more of a rugby girl myself!

FOR THEM

We also received a fabulous personalised character bean bag for the Little Dude. Dex has an annoying habit of watching the television just a few centimetres from the screen which drives me mad and sees his daddy whipping out the screen cleaner every five minutes. I chose this as I hoped it would convince him that he can see more from a distance!

Dexter Bean Bag This is perfectly sized for Dex. I must admit we have no idea whether this is a Small (£39.99) or Medium (£59.99) but they’ve guessed correctly whichever it is - his feet still touch the floor and he can simply back into it to sink his bum onto its soft surface. To my surprise he also managed to spot it had his name on so it’s made it onto his list of coveted possessions that is dragged from room to room. It seems to be favoured over his leather armchair which I’m guessing is because it’s wobbly to sit on so more fun. I can’t claim my plan to tempt him away from the telly worked though!

Dex Bean Bag TV

It has a suedette finish for both the main fabric and all the trimmings (character design and personalisation) meaning it’s warm to touch and easy to keep clean (alternatively Woolly Sheep and Milky Moo Cow are made from knitted polyester fur fabric). There are no harsh seams to poke his bum and the stitching is robust and will hold its own. The entire cover comes off for machine washing as the balls are held in a little sack. It’s finished to an impressively high standard and won’t lose it’s shape despite being flung around the living room.

I plumped for a dog design (or Dood-Do as Dex likes to call them). The colours are fab for our living room but there are a wealth of other designs to choose from that are more colourful to complement nursery themes. Prices range from £39.99 to £99.99 depending on size (£99.99 had me gawking a bit but the small size is perfectly adequate for toddlers and fairly priced)

FOR ME!

Haha! Well you didn’t expect me to share this did you?

Personalised Wine

Getting Personal also kindly sent me this personalised bottle of white wine (£19.99). Interestingly, I was able to compare this to a previous review from Treat Republic and to be honest, this failed to excite me as much as their pink bubbles did. Despite it arriving securely boxed in white polystyrene, there was no presentation box. Given Getting Personal pride themselves on gift-giving, it would have been nicer to receive this ready for gifting.

Personal wine

Naturally there are dozens more designs available (with a vintage selection to mark extra special occasions); the labeling was great quality so it’s a neat way of saying thank you, happy birthday, season’s greeting etc. Being a bit of a wine aficionado however, I wasn’t keen on my wine. Of course I would expect for the wine to be far cheaper than retail price (and bought wholesale to boot) but it tasted way too sharp in my opinion. Maybe I’m being too unkind and my taste buds were having an off day. Perhaps I should sample the Rose and Red before being so judgmental!

Our wines come from the prestigious Bodegas Lozano winery in Spain. Located in La Mancha, one of the oldest and largest wine regions in Spain, the vineyard was founded in 1853 by Juan Ramón Lozano.

The family built their first winery on the land in 1920 and Bodegas Lozano is now the largest privately-owned, family-run vineyard in Spain. Amongst the grape varieties grown there are Macabeo, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

This wouldn’t put me off recommending them though, there’s soooo much choice on their website and it’s easy to navigate with gifts for every budget. To check out some more of their selection, head to gettingpersonal.co.uk or say hello on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook. Their Christmas shop is also now open for festive inspiration!

GIVEAWAY & REVIEW: Treat Republic’s Christmas Range! Win a £30 Voucher (CD: 24/11/2014)

TR

We all know I love Treat Republic. Whenever I have a birthday looming on my calendar it’s the first place I visit to pick up something quirky and unique, and their Christmas selection this year is equally fabulous.

Searching their gifts is stupendously easy. You simply pick your occasion then narrow down by recipient (boyfriend, wife, brother, grandparent etc) and Treat Republic will show you hundreds of tried & tested gifts. This is lazy shopping at its best (although I think the folks at TR HQ will slap my wrist for saying so). You’re guaranteed to find something to suit the fussiest of personalities, and pick up lots of brownie point in the process.

I must have been in a very naughty mood when contacted recently to choose something Christmassy to review (either naughty, or incredibly stressed) as I plumped for alcohol. Treat Republic do a great range of personalised tipples that would make great centrepieces for a Christmas table. There’s champagne, sparkling wine, whiskey, port, vodka, beer and wine… all of which can be personalised (from bottle labels, to boxes and even glassware).

TR Champ

Not thinking of Craigy at all, I plumped for pink bubbles (an entirely deliberate oversight). This Sparkling Monopole Rose Wine was a very reasonable £24.99, which is similar to the price point I’d plump for in the supermarket. It arrived in beautiful gold presentation box in a bed of gold tissue paper. If I had any intention if gifting this to someone it would therefore be ready to simply present to them; dinner party host, birthday girl, your boss or otherwise (but obviously this particular bottle was destined to be devoured by only one person…).

Capture5

The personalisation process was incredibly simple, you simply type the recipient’s name, then a message of your choice to appear on the bottle. Style-wise it looks slick and professional and I’d be more than happy to receive it. More than happy…

TR Wine

It was a great quality sparkling wine and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Sorry about the quality of the pictures - it wasn’t the first thing on my mind at the time!

Although I could write about alcohol all day, I better show you what else Treat Republic have on offer this Christmas!
