Treating your hair to an all natural experience with NOAH hair products

NOAH

When, if ever, would you pay £10+ for a shampoo? What would it have to do that your highstreet shampoo can’t?

It was these questions I asked myself during a recent review for NOAH on behalf of Eterno Naturals. I should point out, I don’t need convincing. For years now I’ve taken my beauty regime as seriously as my budget will allow. My sun protection, moisturiser and make-up cost an arm and a leg and are the closest I can get to organic without plucking the ingredients from the ground myself and mixing them up in my kitchen.

But then, I have to accept that not everyone shares my enthusiasm for all things natural. Most of my friends, simply go to Tesco.com and sort by price when stacking up on haircare.

So in order to convince you to part with a few more pennies, I’d have to show you unequivocal evidence that this will beat the likes of Pantene hands down. I’m guessing you’ll want me to tell you:

My 7even must-haves for designer haircare

  1. It lathers us like a treat, yet washes away without a trace of residue
  2. You can throw your detangling brush away as it blasts through knots with ease
  3. It smells divine from the bottle, and the scent lingers between washes
  4. Coloured hair stays glossy for longer as there’s no nasties to strip it away
  5. The bottle lasts longer as you needn’t use as much product per wash
  6. You can go for longer between washes as your hair smells, feels and looks fresher for longer
  7. It not only prevents split ends, it actively repairs them

So, can I say all these things about NOAH?

YES.

About NOAH

NOAH is a line of exclusive products for body and hair founded in 2006 in Italy. Its entire line has been specifically developed to treat unbalances hair and skin whether that be lifeless, dull, treated or greasy hair, or dry sensitive skin. Each product consists of mixes of essential oils of strictly beneficial properties. They are therefore pure natural essences with the sole purpose of cleansing, revitalising and moisturising skin and hair.

Each NOAH product contains high synergic concentrations of pure essential oils, extracted from plants and flowers, according to the most traditional and ancient extraction techniques. The precious therapeutic powers, the aromas, and colours that characterise each essence are preserved in a totally natural way, without using harmful chemical additives. These means all NOAH hair products are free from parabens, paraffin, mineral oils, DEA and SLS, and their natural pH falls between 2.8 and 5.5.

What have I reviewed?

NOAH hair 1.6 (for hair colored, with streaks, highlights or treated)

This silicone-free shampoo has been formulated to enhance hair color and prolong its duration and intensity. With fitokeratin from rice, and a blend of sunflower, amyris balsamifera, ylang-ylang and origanum majorana oils, it aims to restructure and repair damaged hair by creating a natural protective film to coat each strand, thereby giving your hair volume, softness, elasticity and shine.

Enough gumpf, this smells AMAZING. There’s a strong baseline of menthol and citrus which is cooling and refreshing for your scalp, yet delicate on your hair. This scent honestly doesn’t fade, and hits you once again with every hair flick.

I usually shampoo and condition my hair three times a week. A heavy home colourant user, I also dye my hair every two months to conceal an onslaught of greys that keep threatening to age me twenty years. With NOAH, I’m able to cut both of these rituals down. Of course, the less you wash your hair, the less your colour fades; the less your colour fades, the less you need to dye it.

This doesn’t mean I’m strutting around Reading’s Oracle with greasy dank hair. Flies aren’t hovering above my head either, and Craig isn’t backing away in horror when we go to bed. Nope, my hair is bouncy, light and fresh for at least 3 days before I wash it.

NOAH hair conditioner Leaves 3 (moisturising with ivy leaves and almond oil)

Once again without silicones the ingredients list of this conditioner is refreshingly minimal. Designed to be moisturising without weighing hair down and making it greasy, it’s perfect for hair that is occasionally straightened and prone to knotting. The best way to describe its detangling properties is that I can literally rip a bobble from my hair after a sweaty workout, and not have to brush my hair before washing. Afterwards, a comb will glide through my hair like butter.

It smells like coconut, jojoba and shea butter - that is to say the scent is light, good enough to eat, and very gentle. It reminds me of beaches and aftersun, and blends well with the more potent scent of the shampoo.

I’m straightening my hair far less as a result of using this conditioner as I like the extra volume it gives me. When I do, the usual breakage occurs, but I’ve found you can use the conditioner as a leave-in treatment too and its restorative properties really come into play.

All in all - I’m sold. I was looking for an alternative to my Aveda Shampoo and Paul Mitchell Detangling Conditioner. As much as I love these two products, there are a few suspect ingredients, and they aren’t specifically formulated for coloured hair. Now I’ve made the switch to NOAH, I won’t be turning back.

To buy for yourself, the best price I’ve found is at NaturalOrigin.com where the shampoo I’ve reviewed is priced at £9.90, and the conditioner a very respectable £17.50. To find out more, head to EternoNaturals.com, or follow them on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram to discover what others are saying about NOAH and all their other brands.
