I took Dexter to the park yesterday for the very first time. I feel like an appalling mother admitting I was a park-virgin before then - but I’ll blame the weather and gloss over it!
I could feel the other mother’s eyes on me as soon as I whipped out the Canon and starting snapping away. I looked like a wind-swept and uncool David Bailey wannabe doing Karma Sutre inspired poses to get the perfect shot. When I got home and realised I had the camera on the wrong setting and most were entirely unusable I felt like a right wally!
Dexter had a really great time though. Although most of the play equipment was for older kids - I tried to let him explore as best he could. The slide didn’t go down too well (of course I was supporting him as he had a go) but the swing was a real hit. They also had some of those wobbly things on springs which he quite liked (what do you actually call these anyway??).
Eating daisies and grass also proved quite popular. Given a choice of this and a gingerbread biscotti he had his sights firmly on the green stuff!
In fact, we had such a great time, I didn’t realise that I actually spent a good half of the day with my right boob on show. All the earlier “Smile for mummy” action meant I’d inadvertently popped out from my bra - combined with a low-cut top I should have realised that disaster was inevitable. When my heterosexual male friend eventually caught wind of it he yanked up my top with all the force of a dad tugging at a teenagers micro-mini.
Despite all the disastrous shots, I did manage a few seriously cute ones. I might not be photogenic (evidence above) - but he certainly is!

Great photos of your little one, he’s gorgeous and obviously enjoys the park!
Thanks! Next time I’ll wear something more sensible methinks.
I’ve lost count of the times I’ve exposed myself over the years, but it’s usually when a small child has grabbed hold of too much T-shirt!
He was clearly enjoying himself - beautiful smiles
Tee hee - I felt so awful! Needless to say I had a very red face for hours afterwards. Couldn’t get out of the park soon enough!
lol! you got some lovely photos and you both look gorgeous
Awww that’s so sweet of you to say! I really didn’t though - I had to quickly delete the nudey shots!
awww Dexter is gorgeous (love your header too) and we can forgive you not taking him to the park before - the weather is a valid reason! and you did make me laugh with your boob popping out incident - i think we can all relate top body parts being on show without realising!! x
Thanks my lovely - I dread to think what the other mums thought!
He is so cute, looks like you’re having fun in the sunshine x
He really did - went again today to do it properly (with a massive sweatshirt on!)
Such gorgeous photos and it looks like his first visit was a big hit! Oh and if you find out what those spring things are called, please share - I’d love to know myself!
Wobble Bums is what we affectionately call them xx
It is lovely to see the warmer weather finally. The photos are all lovely especially Dexter on the grass there, he looks so happy and fun loving. You made me laugh about the boob and the camera, I can’t tell you how many photos I have messed up by being on the wrong setting, kind of good to know it isn’t just me who makes these fundimental slip ups! Thanks for linking up on Country Kids.
Yay for parks and spring! Such a lovely combination. I love your little mans cheeky grin- very cute!
Lovely collection of photo’s, looks like he really enjoyed himself! My little man loves the swings and so long as the weather is dry we make the trip! Parks are a great saving grace with the lo’s!
I’m quickly learning! He was a little monster today in Tesco and screamed the place down - 5 minutes on the swing and he was as good as gold for the rest of the day!
You got some beautiful shots of him. Those wobbly things on springs to me are called exactly the same thing! I did laugh about you boob being out (sorry), I only laughed because the same thing would probably happen to me.
Tee hee - I’ve googled and can’t find a better name for them. Funny - I actually thought they were banned when I was growing up for being dangerous.
