It’s heralded as the latest innovation in completely safe teeth whitening… and it’s BLACK!

Developed in the 1800s as an emergency decontaminant to remove poisons and toxins drugs from the stomach. Activated Charcoal is the latest beauty must-have. It’s exactly this (yes, charcoal) that Beverly Hills Formula that harnessed for their revolutionary teeth whitening formula. It might seem a bit weird (even off-putting) to brush your teeth with a black toothpaste, but The Beverly Hills Formula has been making headlines and racking up column inches from beauty editors of some of our most trusted publications - from Irish Tatler to the Mail Online.
“Why?” Well let’s get all the technical bits out of the way first:
Elimates bacteria that causes bad breath and neutralises remaining odours, leaving breath fresh all day
Prevents tartar build-up
Hydrated Silica & Activated Charcoal combination provides high performance and safe whitening
Activated Charcoal binds and removes tannins, the compounds found in tea, coffee and wine
Sodium fluoride keeps tooth enamel strong and healthy, prevents cavities and decay, and protects against acid attack
Contains no abrasives or bleach so doesn’t harm enamel.
“Enough of the jargon - did it work??”
Like most people in their thirties, I’m paranoid about the colour of my teeth. Yet as I have sensitive teeth, the thought of bleaching them frightens me, and I can’t afford to nip to Harley Street and have them laser-whitened. Yet, teeth whitening is BIG BUSINESS and hundreds of thousands of us Brits are searching out that perfect smile and investing in DIY solutions. With this in mind I’m always on the hunt for something that’s gentle enough to do at home and won’t mean re-mortgaging the house. So, on the face of it, with an RRP of £4.99 the Beverly Hills Formula Perfect White Black seemed a good bet.

That said, I wasn’t sure what to expect with this toothpaste. Although I could get past its colour, I had mistakenly thought it would taste unpleasant and stain my lips. Fortunately this isn’t the case at all. It still froths up like a standard toothpaste and it’s a slightly greyish colour that you’ll spit out after brushing. It’s also a gentle minty flavour that leaves your breath smelling fresh.
I’ve been using this for little over a month now and although I can’t compete with the Kim Kardashian’s of this world (she pays thousands for that smile), my teeth are looking considerably whiter than before.

Yet the major plus for this toothpaste is how fresh my mouth is as a result of using it. It might sound a little over-the-top but your really do notice the difference after the first brush. When you inhale, your mouth feels refreshed (almost cooled) and well… clean. It’s a sensation that lasts well after brushing and beats conventional toothpaste / mouthwash systems hands down. There’s also zero furriness in the morning like most of us will experience with off-the-shelf brands, and those teeth that are hard-to-reach are less scaly than before.
As I have sensitive teeth which do flare up if I don’t use a specialist toothpaste, I’m alternating between Beverly Hills Formula and my usual brand morning and night. This obviously means I’ll be waiting a little longer than most to see just white my teeth will end up. That said, I’m totally ready to hail this as a miracle product and I won’t be without it ever again.
