Let’s face it, I’m hardly one for exercise. When I’m not writing this blog, I’m surrounded by housework and kiddie chaos. In fact, chasing the kids around my living room before they sit their bare bums down on the carpet is about the most exercise I’ve had in months!
But now summer is here, all that is set to change. I have so many plans to get the family out and about in the sunshine. We’re about to move house and will be just 50m away from gorgeous woodland and one of the best adventure play parks in Reading. No more excuses, we’re going to explore every inch of it.

Yet you can’t rely on the British weather. Even the best laid plans can get showered out at a moment’s notice. So I’m chuffed to bits with this Trespass jacket I’ve been sent to review. It’s the Sundown Women’s Waterproof Jacket, part of their new SS15 collection, and strikes the perfect balance between protecting you from the elements whilst being lightweight and breathable for the warmer weather ahead.

It’s a 3/4 length mac style which is great for those who aren’t so body confident - thighs and bums are covered! - and features an adjustable drawcord at the waist for creating a trim silhouette. I also like how this isn’t double-breasted which can be incredibly unflattering on the bigger-busted woman. The hidden hood also means you can protect your hair from light summer showers (I can’t count how many times I’ve walked into a country pub with a 70′s Afro thanks to just 5 minutes worth of rain!).
I’m really loving the Burberry-esque storm flaps which draw attention upwards from the hips, and further help draw water away from the shoulders. The same button detail is also echoed on the pockets and flat cuffs giving it a quality cohesive look. The 100% polyester lining is also checked which looks fabulous if wearing it undone. Similarly, the outer material (100% Polyester Microfibre PU) is waterproof to 5000mm and completely windproof for all manner of outdoor activities whilst feeling soft to the touch.

This jacket is currently a very reasonable £59.99 (a 45% saving on its £99.99 RRP) and worth every penny. It’s a quality capsule piece that will serve you well for everything summer throws at you, and will also cross over when summer gives way to autumn. It’s also available in a creamy mushroom colour which would look great against skinny jeans for a more summery look.
If this style isn’t to your liking, Trespass will have something that is. They’ve been designing high performance ski-wear and specialist outdoor clothing since 1938 (albeit under a different guise) and have been a household name in their own right since 1984 (a year after I was born!). They’ve developed their own trademarked fabric technology and have a number of British Apparel Export Awards under their belt too.
