No I haven’t bought a trumpet. I’m not taking part in UK’s Top Model either. But someone out there actually thinks I’m a beautiful mummy and has nominated me - so I’ll happily play along!

First up I’d like to thank the ever gorgeous Ted’s Mum from Stitches and Stretchmarks for nominating me. I’m actually a big fan and love how she doesn’t shy away from the occasional controversial post. This one was a particular favourite and one of the first posts I ever signed up to to hear people’s comments. This is exactly the sort of thing I go for - meaty, well presented, and guaranteed to get a healthy debate going.

Discovering just how tough I am…

No I don’t just mean my ability to stay functioning on just 1-2 hours sleep, my newfound patience, or the unconditional love I felt come bursting through my tummy when I held Dexter for the first time. I’ve also discovered I can clean up poo without vomiting, take a face-full of wee and not end up curled in a corner like a mental patient, and rush to the shops for baby wipes with no make-up and chipped nails looking like a heroin addict queuing up for a methadone script.

Appreciating ‘mummy-time’…

Before Dexter I took my down-time for granted. If I couldn’t afford to go out on a Friday I’d sulk, apply fake tan, paint my nails and post a few porkies on Facebook to make myself sound exotic. Now, the mere hint of an hour to myself sees me crying with gratitude. It’s amazing what you can do in an hour if you try.
