    • Eating foods containing ginger or drinking ginger tea helped incredibly with the nausea and sickness feeling throughout the pregnancy

  1. Make the most of any sleep you can get or any chance to nap - you need to stockpile the sleep as you won’t get any for a while!

  2. Lots of lovely relaxing candle lit baths to relax. You don’t get much chance for baths when baby comes and have to have frantic rushed showers when you have chance! X

  3. If you like to sleep on your side in bed, place a little cushion or pillow between your legs and you will feel so much more comfy! Toward the end, when I got terrible heartburn, I bought on of those v shaped nursing pillows to ‘prop’ me up in bed. You see, if I lay on my back and propped up the heartburn wasn’t as bad!

  4. Spend some time on yourself before the baby arrives, get your hair done or your nails or just treat yourself to a cake & cuppa! As its hectic when your newborn arrives and a while before you get ‘me’ time back :)

  5. I found wearing sea-bands useful for morning sickness. If you have questions for your midwife appointment jot them down during the week so you don’t forget when you get there.

  6. My tip: ALWAYS have milk in the house for heartburn!! I find that the heartburn medicine midwives give you made me gag because of the texture but milk ALWAYS does the trick.

  7. Have some ‘plain’ biscuits next to where you sleep so when you wake up you can ‘make’ yourself eat it and help stave off morning sickness.

If all else fails, at least have a folded up carrier bag with you so that you at least do not have to fret about being sick in public with no where to put it. I know this sounds yuck! but it helped calm me a bit as I had morning-noon-and night sickness with all 3 of mine.

  8. I got a 4ft tubular pillow given to me and it was fantastic, used in bed it went the full length to support my bump and wrapped between my legs for total comfort. Also had its uses when baby was born. Was great for wrapping round my middle when breastfeeding. Supported baby and my arms at each side. Very comfortable Apparently it was quiet expensive, i was lucky enough to be given one.

  9. Everyones pregnancy is different so try not to compare yourself too much with other people (The exact same thing goes with babies, all different and don’t compare) :)

  10. If you wake up feeling sick, try nibbling a ‘dry’ biscuit, some people find ginger ones work for them, for me it was a simple plain digestive.

  11. Make a special effort to have time just with your partner before the baby is born - even just a light walk or a meal out.

  12. Accept all offers of help once the baby arrives, we are not superwomen and trying to clean, do the washing, ironing, cooking etc with a newborn, will just leave you stressed at a time when you should be enjoying your new arrival.

  13. You can only listen to so much advice. Don’t worry or get upset when you can’t do everything everyone says. You’ve only human.

  14. Definitely buy a support pillow for those afternoon naps when your other half isn’t around. For me it was the Carla Heat Regulating Cuddle Me Pregnancy Pillow that was a great support for my back and helped me recover on my sleepless nights during the day

  15. Relaxtion music whilst pregnant, during a nap or before bed. The same music can then be used during labour and it really helps to calm you. xxx

  16. I found that having a nap after work everyday really helped, the tiredness can be unbearable for some and i benefited from this

  17. My daughter is pregnant at the moment, one tip I gave her was to not worry about housework if she wasnt up to it and just rest instead, her and baby were more important than a bit of mess. I bought her a hamper of belgian choccies which made her feel better even if the tip didn’t.

  18. Be sure to get away before the baby is born, the change in environment and a new perspective will enhance your relationship, there won’t be much time for that once you have a newborn

  19. Two tips: 1) Prescription Gaviscon, who knew?! 2) Stay active. You’re not ill for 9 months, just changing shape. (At 40 weeks the prescription Gaviscon is a rather bigger part of my life than exercise, mind you).

  20. walking was the top tip i recieved ! i was paranoid about my weight and was told to take walks regularly it helped at keeping my body toned

  21. I bought a long pillow that I was able to throw my leg over - it took the pain away from my lower back when I was in bed

  22. Definitely the wedge shaped pillow, once I got big with both my children having that under my bump meant I could sleep at night on my side comfortably.

  23. Try and get for a pregnancy massage once you start and feel the weight of bump….. their amazing and make you feel so good and less tense :-)

  24. Smoothies, banana milk, sucking on an freeze pop or ice cubes to help with dehydration. I would tell myself that I need to drink this for my baby! I would eat very small amounts and had my husband prepare things ahead of time for me because I was too unwell to do it myself. Majority of the time, all I could do was take a few small bites. I think if I were to get pregnant again and had these symptoms I would push to find out if I have Hyperemesis Gravidarum and find out what treatments are available. I remember spending months on the sofa and my hubby helping me with everything including my basic care. I felt so useless and such a burden to him even though he never minded. If you experience these symptoms, don’t suffer in silence, speak to your doctor, find people to help you whether it be a mum group online that have experienced it or someone to support you and willing to offer help. Don’t feel guilty or allow other’s to treat you as though you are ‘pretending’ to get sympathy. Don’t suffer alone!

  25. I got a v shaped pillow, while pregnant I slept almost upright in it - I had horrendous heartburn for 7 months :-( , which it helped with. I then used the pillow when I was breastfeeding! X

  26. I had awful cramp and restless feet with my second pregnancy. It would keep me up for hours. I used to have to keep my socks on in bed, which did the trick!

  27. Make time for a relaxing bath. And meet with other pregnant ladies. You get to offload concerns and be excited with others who feel exactly the same. Nothing quite like some moral support!

  28. The wedge pillow for my bump in bed was an necessity for me but you can also use it after birth to have under the baby during feeding and when grandma/ granddads hold the baby that would normally be able to (too weak)
