The New Soother Range from Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature

I’m sure it can’t have escaped anyone’s notice that I was at The Baby Show last weekend. I spent most of it on my bottom in stands pretending to take arty photos so I could rest up my poorly swollen feet. I met tons of new brands, and managed to swing by heaps of my favourite brands too - more on this in an upcoming round-up post.

One thing I did miss however, was the launch event for the new soother range from Tommee Tippee. As a Tommee Tippee Ambassador this was a major blow for us, but I did manage to corner a sales rep at the show for a quick chat and it turns out there was a shiny press pack waiting for me! As I’m just 6 weeks away from meeting Mini Madam, my head is firmly back in ‘new mum’ territory and I’m forever buying up newborn essentials. Any developments from my favourite brands are therefore big news.

So it turns out that Tommee Tippee have been watching mums shopping for soothers for some time and discovered two main findings…

  1. Mums struggle to find what they are looking for when buying soothers, with 1 in 3 mums buying on impulse in store
  2. Baby acceptance of soothers is down to trial and error, often with several purchases before finding one baby likes

I can certainly empathise with this. Dexter wasn’t fussed about soothers when he was tiny. I think this was down to a combination of many things. He was hospitalised in his first few weeks with Strep B and given one by the midwives so maybe he subconsciously associates soothers with this experience… whatever the reason, he continually spat out any we gave him. tt soothers

I’m not against soothers though. Research has shown that, used in moderation, they are fabulous as a night aid for providing baby with comfort and security, and can even reduce cot death. Nowadays the majority are also designed by medical professionals and hundreds of hours go into creating a safe and comfortable experience for our little ones to suck upon. This is exactly what the professionals at Tommee Tippee have done with their new soothers. Designed in conjunction with a leading paediatric dentist, they feature a large, long, flat teat which is easier to hold in baby’s mouth (just like a bottle tests) and in tests, the new soother design was accepted first time by more babies. They’re also suitable to use from birth and are designed with an orthopedic silicone teat to support healthy oral development.

But the best thing by far is the new easy to understand packaging. They come in 4 ranges - Fun, Anytime, Night Time and Air with the age suitability clearly displayed. They’re also far more engaging for little people with fun new colours and designs - making it far easier for mum to locate them in cot bedding, under the sofa, under the telly… the list goes on!
