So Heidi recently had a tummy bug and projectile vomited in her cot. Better mums would have chalked it down to bad luck, soaked her child’s bedding and got her hands dirty. Being a lazy housewife, I fought back dispelling the contents of my own stomach and shoved the whole lot in a black bin bag (poo-stained sleepsuits often meet a similar fate); Out of sight, out of mind.

This meant my darling daughter needed new bedding, and quick, before Craig got a chance to whinge about my having donated her old (and expensive) set to the seagulls at our nearest landfill. Luckily the rather fabulous guys at Kids Concept UK sent her a gorgeous Scandi-inspired set which looks right at home in her nursery.

Who are these charitable style-gurus then?

Kids Concept UK specialise in unique baby & children’s gifts, toys and room accessories all designed in Sweden. Their range of products are hugely popular in Scandinavia, and it’s very easy to see why. Interior designers and those favouring minimalist and modern decor have long been appreciative of the clean lines and clever pops of colour in Swedish textiles and furniture. Kids Concept UK has been bringing popular Swedish brands here to the UK for 7 years now, and I dare anyone not to fall in love with their handpicked selection of quirky products.

Heidi’s green owl bed set

Heidi2 … is a hit! It looks gorgeous in her nursery, adds a splash of colour and makes a real statement. It features tons of little owls and she’s really intrigued by the pattern. An added and unexpected bonus is that she’ll study it when she wakes which keeps her from screaming out for us at ungodly hours!

Heidi It’s a reversible pattern which is fab for when you fancy a change, with other colourways available and coordinating bumpers, curtains and other room accessories. The fact it comes with a matching pillow in both crib (70cm x 80cm) and cot bed sizes (100cm x 130cm) for just £29.90 & £39.90 respectively also means it’s great value for money. Oh and I have to mentions the rather cute bedding bag it arrived in.

Bag It washes like a dream and is lovely and soft against Heidi’s skin, what’s not to love?

REVIEW: Baby Bedding from The Sweet Baby Company

I’m actually thrilled to bits with Heidi’s nursery. Although it’s unfinished and I’m not quite ready for the Big Blog Reveal yet, I’ve decided to share a few sneak peaks of my favourite things as they’re too pretty to keep quiet about. This is definitely true of the beautiful cot-bedding I’ve received from The Sweet Baby Company.

I love this site. Love, love, love it. If Craig ever had a reason to hide our joint credit card, this is it. They stock all the things you find yourself coo’ing at on Pinterest and search your throughout your entire pregnancy trying to hunt down; from ornate furniture sets, right on down to lamps and cushions that are to-die-for.
.
So when owner, Iwona Patel got in touch about a review, I didn’t have a clue what to pick. But given we’d struggled finding baby bedding for Heidi’s cot, I plumped for a luxury bedding set with grey dots. Given Heidi’s nursery is primarily grey and yellow, I wanted something understated and simple for her bedding to keep this space as calm and serene as possible. To add a little interest, we’ll make a statement with accessories instead and will have pops of colour within lampshades, bunting and storage boxes - don’t you worry, it will look appropriately girly and fabulous!

The set arrived in a beautiful box that was, in turn, really well packaged. Inside, the bedding itself was carefully wrapped in tissue paper too. Setting up a new nursery is such an important part of having a baby, and it’s little details like this that help prolong the excitement for mums-to-be. I wanted to pop the bedding on straight away but Craig made me wait until Heidi was here (he’ll tell you it didn’t want it to get dusty, but I can exclusively reveal he’s a little superstitious about such things).

It wasn’t until I finally made Heidi’s bed that I could appreciate just how soft this bedding is. Made from 100% sateen cotton (with a hypoallergenic cot bumper) it feels like the Egyptian cotton sheets on our bed. This is really reassuring as Heidi has really sensitive skin. Although she sleeps mostly in her Moses basket and Bednest crib at the moment (on account of her being so little) she has slept soundly in her big girl cot during the day when I’m cracking on with some work in the master bedroom. She looks so ridiculously sweet on such a big mattress!

There’s a lovely bumper with ties, with coordinating mini pillow case and duvet cover. All with pretty frills and bows. There are no buttons or poppers that might irritate baby’s skin either. If they did the same set for adults, I’d be laying under it as I type.

Currently on sale at £109 it’s not cheap, but you do pay for what you get, and it’s nice to know her bedroom will stand out as something truly unique and luxurious.

But this isn’t all I’ve been lusting over from The Sweet Baby Company. I’ve fallen in love with so many things; their gorgeous nursery lamps, all the wooden eco toys, and a pair of impossibly cute baby booties! Iwona has popped together such a sweet selection of all the bits and pieces she likes, and it’s right up my street.

Sweet Baby1

The whole collection really works. It’s like an online boutique for little people. Toss in the fact they sell furniture to suit every taste (from shabby chic to thick-set wood) and you can create your entire nursery look in one hit.

So our verdict?

We LOVE it. Heidi’s bedding is soft, grown-up and appropriately girly, and the perfect place for my princess to lay her sleepy head.

Beautiful Nursery Ideas: Vertbaudet

I love Dexter’s nursery. It’s my favourite room in the house. I’ve collected trinkets, bunting, and accessories from far-flung corners of the web to create the perfect place for him to chill out.

Having recently stumbled upon Vertbaudet (thanks to Craigy’s sister) I’ve found some new little bits that I simply have to have. They really do have everything - from innovative storage solutions, to trendy bedding, from fun accessories, to coordinating light fittings.

From left to right: Summer Collection CITY KITTY cot bumper (Was £39, now £29.95) and all-seasons sleep bag (Was £29, now £20.30), Blanket sky blue (£29), Summer Collection car lampshade (Was £29, now £21.75), Signpost coat rack (£35), Transport inspired phot frames (£25)

And the furniture is just that little bit more interesting than you can get on the high street. Dexter’s cotbed and drawers are currently plain white but I love the idea of injecting some colour with a funky bookcase and some tiered storage. I also love their mobile toy chests which look really sturdy - you could drop some encyclopedias in there to weigh it down for walking training (supervised of course).

From left to right: Summer Collection bookshelf (£96.75), ‘Little Friend’ themed storage chest on wheels (£39), 3-box library in pinks (Was £55, now £38.50), 3-box library in blues (£55)

There’s also some really beautiful little outfits at amazing prices. I totalled up what Dexter was wearing today (a mix of high street and designer) at an eye-watering £57! Given Craig and I were buying shopmarket own brand tomato sauce today (sacrilege!) and couldn’t even afford to pop into a pub garden for a cheeky pint, I’m mentally cursing myself for spending so much. Everything at Vertbaudet is so reasonably priced you be hard pressed to beat it elsewhere. Just look at these gorgeous bits.

From left to right: Baby Boy Sleepsuit (£11), Summer Collection Baby Boy Polo shirt & trousers outfit (Just £15.20), Summer Collection Baby Boy Polo shirt & shorts outfit (Just £13.30)

Perhaps the best thing about Vertbaudet are the constant deals. As I’ve signed up to their newsletter, I’m forever receiving VIP codes to use at the checkout for 20% off, free P&P or free gifts. They also have Happy Price items to stock up on your essentials for less. Head on over and check them out!
